You have three main game modes that you can sink your teeth into. If you just want to jump straight in and have fun hunting then the Daily Hunt mode is for you. Deer Hunter also introduced a tournament mode that you can play with bots.

This is what you would expect where you are competing against the AI for who can get the most and best kills in a given time frame.

The other mode is Hunting Season where you actually get to manage a deer herd where you take care of them, plant the crops, and thin out the ones that are not good enough for you.

It is a pretty cool idea and a mode later games would improve upon. You have some great locations to hunt in here. There is a great selection of deer for you to hunt down as well as some larger prey if you are willing to do the leg work, but these are much, much harder to come by so that can be a tad on the frustrating side if you ask me.
