If you are trying to download the update and it fails while downloading then you should check "windows Update" log then CBS.

CBS does hold the information of the actions taken but best way to deal with this would be to check the windows update logs and look for the keyword "failure". In the initial post it indicated that when searching the cbs log using fail or corrupt there were no finds.
